Some work of noble note, may yet be done...
...Come, my friends,
'Tis not too late to seek a newer world...
Though much is taken, much abides; and though
We are not now that strength which in old days
Moved earth and heaven; that which we are, we are;
One equal temper of heroic hearts,
Made weak by time and fate, but strong in will
To strive, to seek, to find, and not to yield.
The chapter starting now is serving my country and fellow citizens as a Foreign Service Officer (FSO). Basically, a junior-level diplomat. It's been a long journey to get to this point, and only by the grace of God and the help of incredible people along the way did so many doors open one after the other. Training starts next Monday, and I'll find out my country of assignment later in August.
In past chapters overseas I wrote newsletter updates for family and friends; it's now time to transition to blogging. Hoping very much to avoid narcissism (how many hours have already gone by trying to create just the right blogging image?) and snarkiness (way too much arrogance in the world already). Thanks for reading, and do share your own story with me too.
Erin, I'm just now discovering that you started your blog - so glad to know you'll be keeping us posted as you begin this new journey. I look forward to reading your updates, friend! Thankful for the poem you shared.
